Skiploom Crochet Pattern

Hello! Here's a fourth Pokemon in my series - Skiploom! I think he turned out super cute! I wish I had red safety eyes for his eyes but he's adorable nonetheless. The petals were a pain in my butt however! Who knew eight of the same tiny pattern over and over again would eventually get on my nerves. Again, please don't reproduce or sell my pattern without my permission and please tag me or comment here if you do end up making it, I'd love to see! Also I do have affiliate links at the beginning to link you guys to the materials I used to construct this baby. You will need: 2.5 mm crochet hook Green yarn Yellow yarn Soft white yarn Black (or red) safety eyes Black embroidery floss Tapestry needle Polyester filling Body The body is done in HDC (half double crochet) Row 1 : (in green yarn) MR 7 [7] Row 2 : inc around [14] Row 3 : hdc, inc repeating around [21] Row 4 : 2 hdc, inc repeating around [28] Row 5 : 3 hdc, inc repeating around [35] Row 6 : 4 hdc, inc repeating arou...

Poliwag Crochet Pattern

Hi guys!

This is my first Pokemon crochet pattern in my series. I'm aiming to do as many if not all the Pokemon. I'm just getting started in the world of pattern making so please, if anything is confusing or unclear or you've made any better edits to the pattern, feel free to post in the comments! I'd love to see how yours turn out and any critiques you might have. 😅 Typical disclosures -- if you make anything following my pattern, please credit me wherever you might post/sell it and please do not sell or reproduce my pattern as your own! Also I do have affiliate links to link you guys to the specific stuff I bought to make this little guy.

You will need:

Body

Everything is done in HDC (half double crochet) for the body

Row 1 :  (in blue) MR 7 [7]
Row 2 :  inc all around [14]
Row 3 : hdc, inc around [21]
Row 4 : 2 hdc, inc around [28]
Row 5 : 3 hdc, inc around [35]
Row 6 : 4 hdc, inc around [42]
Row 7 : 5 hdc, inc around [49]
Row 8 : 6 hdc, inc around [56]
Row 9 - 16 : hdc around [56]
Row 17 : 6 hdc, dec around [49]
Row 18 : 5 hdc, dec around [42]
Row 19 : 4 hdc, dec around [35]
Row 20 : 3 hdc, dec around [28]
Row 21 : 2 hdc. dec around [21]
Row 22 : hdc, dec around [14]
I stuffed most of the ball at this point so I wouldn't have to struggle with the tiny hole.
Row 23 : dec around [7]

Finish off and weave in ends.

Feet (x2)

Everything is done in SC (single crochet) for the feet

Row 1 : (in blue) MR 5 [5]
Row 2 : inc around [10]
Row 3 : sc, inc [15]
Row 4 - 10 : sc around [15]
Row 10 : sc, dec around[10]
Row 11 : sc around [10]
Row 12 : dec around [5]

Stuff feet and leave longish ends to sew onto body.

Swirly Tummy

Everything is done in SC (single crochet) for the tummy. I did staggered increases to avoid an octagonal circle, but I must not have done it perfectly because it's still a little pointy on one side?

Row 1 : (in white) MR 7 [7]
Row 2 : inc around [14]
Row 3 : inc, sc around [21]
Row 4 : sc, inc, sc repeated around [28]
Row 5 : inc, 3 sc around [35]
Row 6 : 2sc, inc, 2sc repeated around [42]
Row 7 : inc, 5 sc around [49]

Finish off and weave in the end.
Using black yarn, embroider on the spiral for Poliwag.

Eyes (x2)

Everything is done in SC (single crochet) for the eyes.

Row 1 : (in black) MR 6 [6]
Row 2 : inc around [12]
Switch to white yarn ( two rows of 6 stitches will be added to the sides of the eye )
Row 3 : sc 6, chain one as a turning stitch and go back doing an additional 6 sc.

Finish off and weave in the edges.
Using white yarn, add on the little bit of white on the opposite end to the white.

Mouth

Everything is done in SC (single crochet) for the mouth.

Row 1 : (in pink) Chain 7 [7]
Row 2 : Starting from second chain from hook, sc 6 in back loops of chain.  Turn and sc 6 in front loops of the chain. This makes a similar thing to a MR, an oval shaped though.

Slip stitch through the next stitch and finish off + weave in ends.
Using black embroidery floss or black yarn, embroider on a little line for the mouth slit.

Tail

Row 1 : (in blue) Chain 16 [16]
We're going to then do a similar thing to what we did with the mouth except instead of connecting to loop around and subsequently crochet in the round, we have independent rows and turning chain stitches at the end of each row. Think of the row as being U shaped instead of | shaped or O shaped.
Row 2 : Starting from the second loop of the chain, sc in front loops of chain and then in back loops of chain. [30]
Switch to white yarn and chain one to turn.
Row 3 : (in white) 9sc , 12 dc (double crochet, 9 sc [30]
Row 4 : 8 sl (slip stiches), 1 hdc, 10 inc dc, 1 hdc, 8 sl [40]
Finish off and weave in all ends except one to sew onto body.

Finally, attach the feet to the body wherever they feel comfortable. I sewed the tummy design on but you would be welcome to use fabric glue. I used fabric glue for the mouth and for the eyes. but again welcome to sew them on. Attach the tail at the back. And voila!

I really enjoyed making this little dude. I think for a first time, he turned out pretty well  and I'm happy I started with a kind of easy piece to pattern myself. If I had to do it again, I'd probably use felt for the eyes but aside from that I think the structure in the tail and the mouth mean felt would be bad for those two. Anyways thanks for reading and hopefully you guys get super cute little guys out of it too! I look forward to my next attempt at a Pokemon crochet pattern. If you have any suggestions, let me know. 😊
